Do I need to sign a long-term contract?

No. We rent units on a month-to-month basis with a one-month minimum term. Large, XL, and XXL units require 30 days' advance notice before moving out. Mini storage units, please give us as much notice as possible. You can schedule your move-out date anytime through your online account or by calling (605) 223-0177.

Are there any discounts?

Yes. We offer discounted rates for 6-month and 12-month rentals paid in advance (non-refundable). Discount amounts vary by unit size. Visit our Rent Storage Online page to compare monthly, 6-month, and 12-month rates. 

How do I rent a unit?

You can complete the entire rental process online at www.statestorage.com — no office visit required. Create an account, select your unit, sign your lease electronically, and you're ready to move in. What kind of lock do I need?

Tenants are responsible for supplying their own lock. We recommend a disc lock. Ace Hardware and other local hardware stores typically carry them. Disc locks are rated more secure than standard padlocks and also reduce your tenant protection deductible to $0 if you have a covered claim.

What is the minimum amount required to move-in?

For month-to-month rentals, you'll pay the first month's rent plus a $25 administrative fee on the day you rent. Billing then recurs on the anniversary date of your rental. For 6-month and 12-month rentals, the full amount for the entire rental period is due on the day you rent.

After move-in when will I be billed again?

We bill on the anniversary date of your rental. For example, if you move in on the 15th, your next billing date will be the 15th of the following month.

How do I move out?

Log into your online account and click "Move-Out" to schedule your move-out date. You can also email us at info@statestorage.com and we'll schedule it for you.

Large (16x50), XL (32x50), and XXL (48x50) units require a minimum of 30 days' advance notice. Mini storage units, please give us as much notice as possible.

On or before your move-out date, empty the unit completely, sweep it out, and remove your lock. Then text a photo of the empty, swept unit (with the unit number visible) to (605) 223-0177 or email it to info@statestorage.com. Once we receive it, we'll finalize your move-out.

Please note: If you are moving out on the last day of the month, complete the process by 3 PM or you may be charged for the following month. Rental payments are non-refundable, including prepaid 6 and 12-month rentals.

Will my month be pro-rated when I move out?

No. There are no partial refunds for unused days. Rental payments are non-refundable, including prepaid 6 and 12-month rentals.

How do I gain access to the facility?

After completing your rental online, you'll receive a confirmation email with your unit number, facility address, and personal gate code for 24/7 access. The gate code applies to the mini storage area. If you rent a Large, XL, or XXL unit, access details will be included in your rental confirmation.
